The Real Heros by John W. Lattus
There are times for games and times for war. Very few people know what to do in eachsituation. The men and women who fight for this country understand the difference.
They are the ones who stepped forward and answered the call. Meanwhile, we are justplaying a game, one that we think is enjoyable. However, others may not realize thatthese situations are serious and not something to laugh at or make fun of.
Those who took the extra step forward are the real heroes of our time. They are theknights in shining armor, they are the ones who make the difference. But what do we doin return? We play games, laugh, pretend that we are them with our fingers pointing ateach other.
They deserve more than just a pat on the back or a day just for them, they deserve tolive life to the fullest and they deserve everything we don’t. We do not even know whatthey do when they leave to go to war. We say that we understand, and we say that it isgoing to be okay, but they think it is not; they will never forget what they went through, they will never forget the faces they saw.
They say that God chooses us for these tasks, but they are wrong. They are nowchosen; they are born ready to fight for what they love and believe. They will fight to thelast breath if they must. There are some who can survive every battle and not get ascratch, but they will always be at war with themselves for what happened and whattheir duty was.
They deserve our remembrance; they deserve our courage, strength, and support. So,do not say you understand, because if you were not there, just playing games, you donot have the right to say you understand.
They men and women of the United States military and special forces are the knights inshining armor. They know that we will never understand unless we were there. So, I say“Stay strong and stay righteous in your hour.”
